Your Free Time Needs Balance

There are only two hours until you need to be at work, an appointment, a meeting with friends. What will you do with that two hours? Will it be filled with entertainment or working toward your goals?

If you choose entertainment, it can feel like you are rewarding yourself for all of your hard work. “All work and no play…”

If you choose working toward your goals, that can also feel rewarding as you achieve milestones on your path. You need to be a keener for your dreams. Nobody else is going to make them happen.

What to do? Balance is the key. In everything there is a middle way that is the best way. Eat too little or too much and you’ll be going to the hospital. Work too little and you’ll be living on the street. Work too much and you’ll give yourself a heart attack. You should also look for balance in your free time.

I’m not suggesting you track every hour of the day. That would be obsessive compulsive and be needless busy work. Instead, take some time at the end of each day and ask yourself how you’ve been spending your free time. Has it been all entertainment or all working toward your goals? Then it’s time for a bit of the opposite.
